About Jim Sullivan
Jim Sullivan is a talented young jazz saxophonist and leader of The Sim Jullivan Experience. Until recently, most of his playing was with his school jazz band, but things shifted after he performed on the soundtrack – and on screen – in the award-winning short film Nobody’s Business. Since then, Jim and his band have been performing across Dubbo, building a strong local following.
Dedicated and hardworking, Jim is now developing his craft with professional musicians and aiming to take his performances to the next level. His goal is to move beyond background sets and present a professional-level jazz performance that highlights both his musicality and stage presence.
Showcased in inspire&ignite
Through inspire&ignite, Jim is working towards presenting a professional-level jazz performance, stepping up from background music to a feature event that showcases his skills as both a musician and performer. He is developing his playlist, rehearsing with his band The Sim Jullivan Experience, and refining his sound with guidance from experienced saxophonists and jazz musicians. Alongside this, he is learning the practicalities of producing a performance — from planning logistics to working with venues and collaborating with other creatives.
As part of his journey, Jim has already shared his music at the fashion showcase for fellow inspire&ignite artist Elsie and collaborated on Spoon River: Echoes of Longing. These opportunities are building his confidence and stagecraft while preparing him to deliver a polished, professional performance.
